Jane (2022) | Rotten Tomatoes (1) Leslie Felperin Guardian It is refreshing to see a film focus so much on the complex intricacies of female relationships but that has nothing to do with sex, either between the young women themselves or with men, who barely feature here. Rated: 3/5 Feb 7, 2023 Full Review Jane (2022) | Rotten Tomatoes (2) Mark Keizer AV Club A slow burn thriller where complicated YA issues and vengeful social media posts make for a less than potent mix. Rated: C- Sep 16, 2022 Full Review Jane (2022) | Rotten Tomatoes (3) Calum Cooper The People's Movies Sabrina Jaglom’s Jane is a bold take on the high school movie. Rather than a showcasing of high school politics at its pettiest, it is instead an eerie example of how trauma mixed with group politics can morph us into the worst versions of ourselves. Jul 17, 2024 Full Review Jane (2022) | Rotten Tomatoes (4) Keri O'Shea Warped Perspective Jane is psychological rather than visceral, but this is no discredit to the film. In fact, in its overarching message – one which only hoves into view at the end – it has plenty to say about success, and those who succeed. Feb 15, 2023 Full Review Jane (2022) | Rotten Tomatoes (5) Kat Hughes THN Jane ultimately succeeds in being a bite-size slice of teen melodrama with a message. Rated: 3/5 Feb 13, 2023 Full Review Jane (2022) | Rotten Tomatoes (6) Leslie Combemale AWFJ.org Jane is an interesting watch, and certainly a good showcase for showing both Petsch and Bailey as more multidimensional, skilled performers. Audience Member Sabrina Jaglom and Petsch Productions explore the touchy subject of teen suicide Madelaine Petsch of 'Riverdale' fame stars as Olivia next to Melissa Leo and Chloe Bailey A high school girl that's dealing with the recent death of her best friend, Jane Olivia wants to go to Stanford badly but is deferred sending her in a spiral Things get very uncomfortable when she finds out somebody is using an online profile using Jane's name and picture But who is it? Olivia is starting to see things or is she? This explores the complex intricacies of female relationships even if it isn't necessarily happy go lucky Petsch and Bailey are terrific and clearly the message is one to pay attention to It's very short too and there's dozens of unanswered questions and plot holes that don't get fulfilled but manages to show the desperation high school seniors go through to make their dreams Rated 3/5 Stars • Rated 3 out of 5 stars 08/28/23 Full Review DJ M This is definitely sending the wrong message to teenagers yes I understand it's a fictional story. It's not ok to commit a crime and then frame the person you just murdered . It should have given the ending of what happens when you obsess about things beyond your control and what the consequences are of trying to please everyone around you. Olivia was obsessed about going to Stanford and she was willing to what it took to achieve that. Olivia was willing to plot, scheme, cyber bully, lie and murder others in the process to achieve the objective. I hope this movie leads to a sequel because Olivia is a sociopath and she decides to take up psychology and use her friend murder that she created as a college introduction letter for acceptance . Watchers needs to know the consequences of obsession and compulsion disorder if you don't seek help or treatment and if you know anyone with this behavior here is a number to get help as follows ! This film takes us on a pulse-pounding psychological journey that will leave you on edge. The story revolves around a high school senior with her sights set on attending a prestigious university. With her seemingly perfect grades and fierce determination, she's the envy of her peers. But when a new competitor enters the picture, she turns to a former friend and the social media presence of another acquaintance to maintain her status. What starts as a harmless joke quickly spirals out of control and forces our protagonist to confront the dark parts of her personality and the catastrophic consequences of her actions.JANE is a film that will make you think, feel, and question our actions' impact, the consequences of crossing ethical boundaries, and the toll that grief can take on the human psyche. The writer and director, Sabrina Jaglom, and co-writer, Rishi Rajani, have crafted a multi-layered protagonist that embodies confidence and arrogance yet is plagued by insecurity and cowardice. I was impressed at how each character added the perfect mix of importance to the story/JANE is a film that deserves your attention, even if it has flaws in pacing. The film's stunning cinematography and captivating performances only add to its impact. The protagonist's journey to make amends serves as a cautionary tale about the dangers of striving for perfection and the emotional impact of grief. Allow JANE to take you on a thrilling exploration of obsession and the lengths one will go to achieve their goals. Get ready for a film experience like no other, and complete a heart-wrenching message that will ultimately leave you thinking about the film long after you've finished watching. For more reviews and my YouTube channel, please visit linktr.ee/OverlyhonestmoviereviewsFollow me on Letterboxd, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube.
